About Gillian

I am more than the transition I am documenting.

I'm Gillian.

This website documents an important chapter of my life, but transition is not the entirety of who I am.

I have lived a long life before arriving at this point, with decades of experiences, careers, relationships, successes, failures, faith, creativity and change behind me.

For much of my professional life, I have worked in technology and IT. I have spent years solving problems, supporting people, working with networks and systems, and more recently building websites and helping small businesses establish themselves online.

Creativity has also become an increasingly important part of my life. Music, writing, website design and content creation give me ways to express things that technology alone never could.

My faith remains one of the foundations of who I am. I believe that every chapter of my life — including this one — deserves to be approached with honesty, gratitude and a willingness to keep growing.

I do not see Gillian as someone who suddenly appeared and replaced the person who came before.

Galleon is part of my history.

Those years contain my memories, relationships, work, lessons, mistakes, achievements and experiences. I do not need to reject that life in order to move forward.

Today I am simply allowing another part of myself to become visible.

I am learning what femininity means to me, finding my own style, developing my voice, growing my hair, watching my body change and becoming increasingly comfortable allowing the person inside to be reflected more honestly on the outside.

There is also something deeply meaningful about beginning again later in life.

For years, it can be easy to believe that change belongs to younger people — that by a certain age we are supposed to have settled permanently into who we are.

I no longer believe that.

I think we remain capable of learning, changing, creating and discovering new parts of ourselves for as long as we are willing to be honest about what we need.

I don't know what the finished version of Gillian looks like.

I'm beginning to suspect there isn't one.

There is only the person I am today and the person I continue becoming tomorrow.

And for the first time in a very long time, I am genuinely curious to see where that journey leads.
